решилось путём установки src

В Мандраке в /etc/ld.so.conf вообще маловато путей к библиотекам прописано. Желательно, чтобы там присутствовали /lib, /usr/lib, /usr/local/lib, /usr/X11R6/lib и вообще, пути ко всем каталогам lib (на моей Слаке, например, ещё /usr/i486-slackware-linux/lib, /opt/kde/lib, и даже /usr/lib/qt/lib - специфика разных дистров)
Это нужно для обновления базы библиотек (команда ldconfig, если кто не знает ), особенно, если эти библиотеки не с родных дисков ставятся. Хоть в большинстве случаев обновление происходит автоматом, не помешает после установки "чужих" библиотек руками запускать ldconfig, понятно, из-под рута.

есть ноут с установленной ALT Linux 3.0.4 Compact (1cd), есть следующая ПРОБЛЕМА:

при попытке ставить пакеты (возьмём например Mozilla 2.0) получаем следующее:

Таже БЕДА и при установке и др. пакетов, SIM например:

[root@Punker ICQ]# apt-get install sim-0.9.4.1-alt1.i586.rpm

с другими пакетами такая же беда!
P.S. Вру, без ругани поставил Оперу 9.02, и Крусадер...
список "неустанавливаемых" пакетов может изменяться в зависимости от пакета, который хочу поставить.

Может попробывать
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

Возможно новый gcc стоит, но он не "выбран". Чтобы проверить это
rpm -qa | grep gcc - там должны показаться те версии gcc которые установленны, затем select-gcc от рута и выбираем нужную версию для сбрки. По-крайней мере у меня так.

Пробовал, а тут новые "вилы", поскольку у меня спутниковый Инет через проски (UserGate), мне порекомендовали так:

declare -x ftp_proxy="ftp://192.168.0.1:4480"
declare -x http_proxy="http://192.168.0.1:4480"
apt-get update

где 192.168.0.1:4480 -адрес моего прокси сервера

и получаем вот что:

попробовал auto

[root@Punker root]# select-gcc auto

молчит...

я потом так:

[root@Punker LinSOFT]# select-gcc display
/usr/bin/i586-alt-linux-cpp points to /usr/bin/i586-alt-linux-cpp-3.4

что это значит?:?

пакеты не ставятся всё равно..
