Сборка прог из архивов

Всем привет!
Да Linux класная опирациотка, но у меня возникают кое какие проблемы при установки програм из архивов. Чото с компиляцией не ладится.
Вот к примкру хочу установить KChm-0.6.5(прога для чтения chm файлов), распаковываю пакет, захожу в каталог и набираю './configure'. Всё проходит отлично, пишил 'Good - your configure finished. Start make now'. Потом набираю 'make', сначало всё идёт хорошо но потом пишет:

И всё на этом, дальше не компилируется. И так практически со всеми прогами. Что делать? Подскажите пожалуста!!!

сделай make install.

Кроме того, а зачем тебе из сырцов собирать, используй дистрибутив нормальный, в котором достаточное количество нужного тебе софта уже есть в виде бинарных пакетов.

Я пользуюсь Fedora Core 4 ,а RPM такой проги я ещё невидел и вообще насколько я знаю проги собранные из сырцов лучше работают

light.89, проги собранные руками тех, кто делал этот дистр, лучше работают. А из сырцов собирать имеет смысл только если ты гуру или пытаешься им стать. Попробуй лучше погуглить, для FC4 очень многие программы собраны и лежат на альтернативных зеркалах, т.е. т.н. неофициальные сборки.

make надо делать из под обычного пользователя, а вот make install надо делать от root.

Только самые важные вещи. Не дай бог, сотрете что-нить важное. Например, свой Windows-раздел

Когда набираю make install ,то вылетает ошибка и компиляция не идёт.

а что пишет то? Кроме того, еще помогает перед сборкой внимательно почитать README, INSTALL и KNOWN BUGS

Да ё-моё! ./configure,потом make, потом make install - конфигурируешь под свою систему, собираешь и устанавливаешь.Популярную литературу читать надо!

Или так одной командой: ./configure&&make&& make install - каждая следующая запускается при успешном выполнении предыдущей...
Ну, а совсем по науке делать это из-под простого пользователя, только устпановку из-под рута вот так:.
./configure
make
su
(пароль)
make install

sudo make install

а яшчэ лепей зьбіраць пакеты пад сваю сыстэму
і толькі потым усталёўваць, бо
./configure
make
sudo make install - зло ІМНО

Да набирал я ./configure,потом make, потом make install. Только на мейке всё дохнет и ничего не компилируется. А может не собиратся прога если каких-то библиотек недастоёт в системе?

И ещё, как сабрать покет с расширением <name>.src.rmp?

Вот и всё, прога не установилась. И так с большинством прог каторые я пытался установьть(даже пытался в разных дистрибутивов). Ну, что дымаете по этому поводу?
И ещё, неподскажете какую прогу скачать для просмитра chm файлов?
